Birya is a small village situated about 50kms from the Northernmost point of Israel. The area is very mountainous, and littered with trails. The Birya forest is fairly dense, with good soil, particularly suitable for mountain biking. It also helps that the area offers stunning views of the Upper Galilee region – you can see right across the valley to the snowy summit of Mount Hermon on a clear day.
KKL, the Jewish National Fund, has constructed a circular mountain bike trail in the area. Making use of jeep roads for some of the climbing, the loop also takes in part of a classic DH race track in the area. In other words, take your time to enjoy the views on the climbs, and pin it on the way down – Enduro style!
