Mishmar Haemek is a kibbutz situated about 40 minutes north of Tel Aviv, on the eastern slopes of the Carmel mountain range. The area features hills or small mountains approx 300 meters high, most of which are covered by a forest. There are a multitude of singles criss-crossing the entire domain, and the riding here is best classified as “Enduro” or “All-mountain” riding. There are not many built features to be found here, but the quality of the singletrack is excellent. It is easy to go on anything from a 1-hour quick blast to loops of several hours – the standard loop we are describing here covers about 20kms of riding, with in total about 600-700 meters of climbing and descending.
The climbs are mostly done on jeep roads, while the descending is exclusively on singletrack – and it’s the kind of trails that will leave you grinning and fired up to hit one more climb, just to get another run. Flowy, fast, and with some good challenges thrown in along the way, any rider will find enough to have fun here. You need to be in decent shape to complete the loop described below, especially if you come during the hotter months.
Park in the kibbutz, and head out for your loop. There is a bike shop in the kibbutz area itself, which is well-stocked and has a fully equipped workshop and competent staff – any urgent repairs will be taken care of quickly here.
